While most of us have heard of people speak of ‘high church’, it generally refers to a church that focuses on liturgical and reverential forms of worship. Fox News reports on an Arizona church that is giving a new definition to ‘High Church’.
Dan and Mary Quaintance of Pima, Ariz., stepped down as leaders of a church that considers marijuana a sacrament and deity; they’re facing charges of conspiracy and intent to distribute marijuana.
The Quaintances are scheduled to go on trial Oct. 30 in Las Cruces, N.M., though they hope the case will be dismissed before the end of the month. They’re awaiting a decision from U.S. District Judge Judith C. Herrera on whether she’ll dismiss the case on the grounds that religious freedom should allow them to use the illegal drug.
